Import of cars in Russia through customs in Primorye increased

The volume of imports of foreign cars into Russia through checkpoints in Primorye in early 2025 increased 3.5 times compared to the same period last year, according to March 17. Quto.ru with reference to the data of the Federal Customs Service of Russia.

Since the beginning of the year, Ussuri customs officers have issued more than 3 thousand cars of individuals for personal use. The amount of customs and other payments paid amounted to about 1.7 billion rubles.

Russians most often order Changan, Chery, Geely cars, as well as LiXiang and Zeekr electric cars, both new and used. If Japanese cars were popular before, now they have been replaced by Chinese ones.

In total, in 2024, more than 17.7 thousand passenger cars for personal use were processed through Primorye customs, which is six times more than a year earlier. The total amount of various fees paid by the Russians amounted to 9.4 billion rubles.

On March 14, it was reported that by the end of 2024, 181.2 thousand new passenger cars were imported into Russia under alternative import schemes. Among them, the most popular model was the Toyota Camry. Next in the ranking are Toyota RAV4, BMW X5, Hyundai Elantra and Kia Seltos.
