Chinese IT giant Huawei has sued a local automotive blogger for criticizing the Maextro S800 luxury sedan. She requested an amount equivalent to $140,000, CarNewsChina reported on March 17.

Huawei has released a series of promotional videos comparing the S800 to the Mercedes Maybach S680. In one of them, the company demonstrated the difference in the suspension system of the two models when driving through depressions in asphalt with a glass plate, sand and water. In all cases, the wheels of the Chinese sedan, unlike the German one, did not break the glass, nor did they touch sand and water. So, Huawei tried to declare the comfort of the S800.

An autoblogger under the nickname Racing Frappuccino posted a video on the Chinese social network Weibo in which he claimed that the conditions for this test were designed specifically in such a way as to demonstrate the superiority of the S800 model. Allegedly, to prepare the video, the speed of movement of a Chinese sedan with its curb weight was specially calculated, and the required depth of the water tank was selected. The blogger said he would file a counterclaim against Huawei for $ 340 thousand.

The Maextro S800 is a luxury sedan from Huawei and JAC with a length of 5480 mm. The car will be offered in both pure electric and hybrid versions of the power plant. Sales of the model in China should begin this year.

Earlier that day, Geely announced the launch of sales of the EX5 model in Russia, which is the first all-electric model on the Russian market. The model is available in two trim levels, priced from 4.1 million and 4.4 million rubles, respectively.
