At the Sanae IV South African research base in Antarctica, one of the scientists attacked his colleagues. This was reported on March 17 by The Times newspaper, citing sources.

"The team members lived in fear not because of the hostile environment, but because one of them attacked [colleagues]," an unnamed researcher shared in an email received from the base.

The source stressed that the attacker posed a threat to the entire team.
