Europe will never have its own army. This was announced on March 17 by the vice-chairman of the European People's Party (EPP) in the European Parliament, Francois-Xvaye Bellamy.

"No need to fantasize. We will never have a European army, we will never have the defense powers that the European Commission will transfer to our states," he said in an interview with Sud Radio. The video was posted on the radio's page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Bellamy stressed that countries should strive for greater sovereignty and develop their national armed forces so that they can rely on more reliable and autonomous resources.

When asked what to do in the event of an attack on Europe, Bellamy said that the main thing is to prevent it.

"If you want peace, prepare for war. Our goal is peace, not war. Our goal is to ensure that our States are not attacked. And so that they are not attacked, they must be absolutely sure that they will be able to defend themselves if they are in danger," the Vice chairman emphasized.

Military expert Alexei Leonkov told Izvestia on February 27 that the idea that the European Union (EU) would create its own army without the participation of the United States has been heard for many years, but so far it has not led to anything. In addition, such a scenario is unacceptable for Washington, which benefits from controlling European countries through NATO.
