In the Kherson region, a man was detained on suspicion of transmitting information to Ukraine.

A Russian citizen involved in the transfer of information to the special services of Ukraine was detained in the Kherson region. This was reported on March 17 in the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the region.

"The operational search measures carried out established that in October 2023, the suspect collected and transmitted, through his relative who maintains contact with representatives of the special services of Ukraine, information about the locations of military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the territory of the Kherson region," the press service of the department informed.

A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High treason"). At the moment, the suspect has been taken into custody. It is specified that he faces imprisonment for up to 20 years.

On March 13, the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Kherson region reported the arrest of a girl on suspicion of espionage. A criminal case was opened against her in accordance with Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Espionage").
