Senators submit to the State Duma (DG) a draft law on payment in case of injury or death of a serviceman in a special military operation (SVO) within 15 days from the date of receipt of the documents. This was announced on March 17 in the Federation Council (SF).

The document has been prepared to legislate the deadline for the payment of a one-time allowance to a military or volunteer in connection with his recognition as unfit for military service due to injury, concussion or illness sustained during service, as well as a one—time allowance to family members in the event of the death of a fighter, according to a message on the Telegram channel of the Federation Council.

The draft law provides for insurance payments no later than 15 days after the date of receipt of a set of documents on the right to payments, the completion of verification of their completeness and correctness of registration.

"As practice shows, this time is enough both for interdepartmental interaction and for working with documents and the applicant," said Inna Svyatenko, Vice Speaker of the upper house of Parliament.

Vladimir Yakushev, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, said that at the moment, the time frame for reviewing documents differs from different law enforcement agencies and can be up to 60 days, and in case of delays or the need for repeated reviews — longer.

Earlier, on March 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the establishment of the State Council commission for the support of special operations veterans and their families. The tasks of the new body will include coordinating the work of various departments and organizations on the adaptation of military veterans to civilian life, monitoring regional measures to support participants in the special operation, as well as developing additional measures to support military personnel and their families.

On the same day, the head of state instructed to develop a basic regional standard for the provision of social assistance to SVO fighters. For example, the Russian leader instructed to extend the activities of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation to family members of the missing special operation participants.
