The media named the best regions for life after 55 years

Moscow and St. Petersburg took the first places in the ranking of regions in terms of quality of life for people over 55 years of age. This was reported on March 17 by the newspaper Kommersant.
The study was conducted as part of the To Be Precise project and was based on four key indicators: life expectancy, the proportion of elderly people with incomes below the subsistence level, the proportion of working pensioners and the proportion of those who attended at least one cultural event over the past year.
The main criterion for the analysis was life expectancy after 55 years. In 2023, this figure was 24.5 years on average in the country, while in Moscow and St. Petersburg it was 29.8 and 26.5 years, respectively.
According to Anastasia Rakova, Vice-mayor of the capital, more than 1,000 residents of the city celebrated their 100th anniversary.
"The capital encourages an active lifestyle and longevity," she said.
On January 23, Svetlana Chupsheva, head of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI), announced that Moscow, St. Petersburg and Tatarstan had become leaders in the agency's quality of life rating for 2024. The Republic of North Ossetia—Alania, Yaroslavl, Tomsk and Kirov regions also occupy leading positions in terms of growth dynamics.
