One in four Russians is faced with a loan refusal due to an incorrect status in their credit history. This is reported in a study by analysts of the Credit Assistant service, which was reviewed by Izvestia on March 17.

"25% of Russians receive loan refusals due to an incorrect status in their credit history. Incorrect debt burden is in second place among the errors.: It is detected in 21% of potential borrowers. This is due to the incorrect display of average monthly payments," the study says.

Experts explain that this situation occurs when payments on already closed loans remain in the credit history or when a larger monthly payment is mistakenly indicated for current loans. This leads to erroneous conclusions of banks about the borrower's high debt burden.

The third and fourth places in the rating were erroneous delinquencies (15%) and incorrect debt balance (14%). Fraudulent loans and loans from third parties occupy the fifth place: 11% of Russians face them. Such errors may occur due to fraudulent transactions, confusion in data due to matching full names, or technical failures.

"We record that Russians often face rejection not because of real problems in their credit history, but in many cases because of technical errors. For example, the display of a closed loan as active or discrepancies in the status of credit bureaus occur due to system updates to the data transfer format or other technical failures," says Dmitry Mikhailov, Chief Operating Officer of the Credit Assistant service.

Experts also note that 9% of borrowers face incorrect display of personal data, which directly affects the correctness of information about the credit burden. The rarest mistake turned out to be the presence of intermediary requests in the credit history: 5% of potential borrowers face this.

"In order to minimize errors, it is important to check your credit history through requests to the BCI and pay close attention to personal data. If errors have already been found, a person can submit an application to the bank or BKI for incorrect information or contact a specialized organization that will help correct the errors," Mikhailov added.

Earlier, on January 23, Vice Speaker of the State Duma Vladislav Davankov from the New People party proposed to the head of the Ministry of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov to legally oblige marketplaces to introduce the function of setting a self-lock for citizens to purchase goods or setting a monthly monetary limit.
