The administration of US President Donald Trump has notified European countries of its withdrawal from the international group for the study of events in Ukraine, including those related to the special operation to protect Donbass. This was reported on March 17 by the American newspaper The New York Time, citing sources familiar with the situation.

It is indicated that Washington's official announcement of withdrawal from the association should follow on the same day.

The newspaper noted that the United States was the only country outside Europe that participated in the group's work — the prosecutor of the American Department of Justice worked in The Hague together with representatives of the Kiev regime, the Baltic states and Romania.

"The Trump administration has not given any other reasons for withdrawing from the investigation team, other than the same one by which it justifies all its other political and personnel decisions — the need to transfer resources," the article says.

Earlier, on March 14, Trump said that the decisions of his predecessor as president Joe Biden had led to a "mess" in relations with Russia. The American leader stressed that he intends to correct the consequences of the actions of the head of the previous White House administration.
