After the winter, when the car was exposed to low temperatures, humidity and reagents, it is necessary to carry out the procedure of "roasting" the engine. This was stated by Vadim Strelbitsky, director of the Avilon Kia Mechanical Repair Department, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported on March 17.

The process of "roasting" an engine is a long—term intensive movement of the car at high speeds, which allows you to clean the engine of accumulated dirt and deposits, the auto expert explained. The procedure helps to remove moisture from the engine and exhaust system, which is formed in winter due to condensation, to clean the spark plugs, valves and combustion chamber from carbon deposits, as well as to improve engine performance, he noted.

"Roasting" should be carried out for at least 30-40 minutes in dry weather to avoid additional exposure to moisture. On the route, urban and country modes should alternate so that the engine runs at different speeds. Then you need to check the oil level and condition, and replace the air and fuel filters if necessary, the specialist advised.

He noted that in winter, low temperatures slow down fuel combustion processes and worsen oil evaporation, and during short trips and slow heating, incomplete fuel combustion products accumulate in the engine. This reduces power and increases fuel consumption.

On March 11, auto expert Alexander Sosnovsky said that installing a fake or low-quality oil filter in a car could lead to contamination and increased wear of the internal combustion engine. The fake filter has a low-quality filter element, which will clog before the deadline set by the manufacturer and will allow oil with dirt particles to flow directly into the engine, the specialist explained.
