- The Federal Antimonopoly Service will set a discount for children from 10 to 18 years old on long-distance trains

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) will establish a year-round discount for children from 10 to 18 years old on long-distance trains, the press service of the antimonopoly authority reported on March 17.
"On behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation, the service has developed relevant draft orders. They regulate that a discount on travel will be provided to passengers from 10 to 18 years old, regardless of the form of education, without presenting a certificate from an educational institution. When boarding the train, you will need an identity document — a birth certificate or passport," the FAS explained.
At the moment, children under the age of five can travel for free if they do not occupy a separate seat. For children under the age of 10, a children's fare is provided, which ranges from 35% to 70% of the adult ticket price, depending on the class of the train and the type of carriage.
According to the service, the introduction of new orders will help improve the mobility of children and adolescents across the country and will help resolve issues related to family support.
Earlier, on February 19, the Ministry of Transport supported the State Duma's proposal to introduce additional benefits for students to travel on long-distance trains during the New Year holidays. At the same time, the ministry opposed the idea of price fixing, as this could lead to large losses for the carrier.
