- The Secretary of the Socialist Republic was surprised by the lack of Israeli reaction to the glorification of Nazism in Ukraine

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs needs to work to prevent the glorification of Nazi figures. This was announced to Izvestia on March 17 by Timur Shafir, Secretary of the Union of Journalists of Russia, head of the International Department of the Russian Federation.
"Ideally, both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government agencies should not have responded to a journalist's question about how they feel, how they regard and why they do not respond, but should have taken appropriate measures in advance and long in advance, protested and generally influenced the current regime ruling in Kiev, to influence in order to prevention, revival, glorification of Nazism," he said.
This is how the expert commented on the suspension of Izvestia journalist Nikita Kulyukhin from attending press conferences of Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar after his question about praising nationalist leader Stepan Bandera in Ukraine.
Shafir stressed that Israel should have reacted from the moment when streets began to be renamed in honor of the so-called heroes in Ukrainian cities.
"Such a question from a journalist in this situation could simply not arise. If the issue has arisen, it means that there really are a number of certain problems with this," he stressed.
On March 16, the Israeli Foreign Ministry banned Kulyukhin from attending the weekly press conferences of the Saarland Foreign Minister. This was reported by The Seventh Eye magazine with reference to the Israeli Foreign Ministry. This is due to the fact that at a press conference on March 4, a correspondent asked why the Israeli side did not condemn the glorification in Ukraine of accomplices of nationalists during the Holocaust, including their leader Bandera, responsible for the deaths of many Jews. The minister stated that he had not known about this before the question was asked, as well as about the tendency to rename streets of Ukrainian cities in their honor.
The policy of so-called decolonization has become a continuation of the "decommunization" in Ukraine, which began to be carried out in 2015 within the framework of the law "On the condemnation of the Communist and Nazi regimes." It prescribes the demolition of monuments, the dismantling of memorial plaques, and the renaming of all topographical objects whose names are associated with the USSR or Russia. This policy became especially acute after the start of the special operation of the Russian Federation to protect Donbass in February 2022.
