Russian Mirra Andreeva rose to third place in the WTA championship race

Russian Mirra Andreeva won her second consecutive Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tournament on March 16 and rose to third place. She won titles in Dubai (UAE) and Indian Wells (USA).

In the final of the tournament, the athlete first beat the first racket of the world, Belarusian Arina Sobolenko, and then defeated Polish Iga Schwentek, who occupies the second position in the ranking. At the moment, Andreeva is in third place with 2.5 thousand points.

It is noted that Andreeva became the youngest tennis player in the last 40 years, who managed to defeat the first and second rackets of the world at the WTA tournament at the age of 17 years 299 days.

On the night of March 14-15, Andreeva reached the final of the tournament after defeating the Polish athlete in the semifinal match. The game ended with a score 7:6, 1:6, 6:3 in favor of the Russian woman.

Andreeva beat Sobolenko on March 16 in the final match of the WTA tournament in Indian Wells (USA, California).
