The crew of the T-80BVM tank of the 1st Separate Guards motorized Rifle "Slavic" Order of the Republic brigade of the 51st Guards Combined Arms Army of the Center group of forces destroyed a stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Red Army special operation area. This was announced on March 17 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The tankers received the coordinates of the enemy's stronghold, which prevented the advance of Russian assault units, from calculations of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). After that, the crew arrived at a pre-prepared firing position, using the folds of the terrain, and successfully eliminated the enemy target at a range of up to 8 km.

The ministry clarified that the shooting was conducted along a mounted trajectory with constant fire correction by drone operators conducting aerial reconnaissance in the target area. The Ukrainian Armed Forces stronghold was destroyed by 125-millimeter high-explosive fragmentation shells from a closed firing position.

"We perform most of the tasks from closed positions, because the sky is very dirty. Ukraine is starting to lose its pain potential in the role of artillery, so they have begun to use drones more," said company commander Danila Kotlyarov.

He also added that now every tank has an Internet connection.

The tank crews of the 1st Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade work as an artillery piece, thereby hampering the Ukrainian Armed Forces in maneuver and preventing the enemy from returning fire.

On March 16, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that crews of T-72B3M tanks of the 20th Guards Combined Arms Army of the Zapad group of forces destroyed camouflaged positions and manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR). The shooting was corrected by the operators of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
