Finland will not export eggs to the USA. This was announced on March 16 by Yle TV and radio company.

"Egg exports are probably not possible at the moment, as negotiations with the United States on export—related market access have not been conducted," said Veera Lehtila, executive director of the Finnish Poultry Association.

She clarified that the agreement of the Finnish side would not have brought much benefit to the States. According to her, the shortage of eggs is not only an American, but also a European problem.

According to Agriwatch magazine, the United States has also requested eggs from Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands.

CNN reported on January 14 that U.S. citizens are facing a shortage of eggs due to avian flu. It was specified that the restoration of stability in the food market in the country may take from six to nine months. In addition, the shortage has led to higher prices for eggs. On February 7, it became known that amid the shortage, stores in the United States imposed restrictions on the purchase of eggs.

Izvestia correspondent Nikolai Masters reported on February 9 that the price of a dozen eggs had increased to $7 against the background of avian flu.
