Witkoff announced progress on the issue of Ukraine at a meeting with Putin


The American leader's special Envoy for the Middle East, Steven Witkoff, said that great progress had been made in discussing the conflict in Ukraine at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. He made the corresponding statement on March 16 on the CBS News channel.
"We have made great progress at this meeting. This meeting lasted maybe four hours. Definitely at least three. We talked about a lot of details," TASS quoted him as saying.
According to Witkoff, the American side expects that the telephone conversation between the Russian leader and US President Donald Trump will be positive and constructive. He noted that the heads of state could call next week.
Earlier in the day, Witkoff announced a shortening of the distance in the negotiations between the Russian Federation and the United States on the Ukrainian crisis. According to him, the meeting with Putin was positive, focused on finding solutions to the conflict in Ukraine.
On March 14, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted "progress" in negotiations on Ukraine after the meeting between Putin and Witkoff. On the same day, Trump said that discussions on a possible ceasefire in Ukraine with Putin were progressing quite well.
