- The leader of the Romanian opposition sent a letter to Putin condemning NATO and the EU

The leader of the Romanian opposition party S.O.S. Romania, Senator Diana Shoshoake, sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin condemning the actions of NATO and the European Union (EU) towards Bucharest. This was reported by the newspaper Adevarul on March 16.
"You just need to know that the political class in power does not represent the will of the Romanian people," the letter says.
Shoshoake clarified that she had been illegally suspended from participating in the Romanian presidential election twice. According to her, this happened because of her advocacy for peace, independence of the state and against the involvement of Bucharest in the "military adventures" of Great Britain, France and Brussels.
The senator expressed concern that the European Union and NATO are forcing the Romanian side to participate in the conflict.
"We will continue to defend peace and normalization of relations with the Russian Federation and will resolutely resist the EU's plans to involve us in the conflict," Shoshoake stressed.
On March 15, Romania's Central Election Bureau (CEC) did not allow Shoshoake to participate in the repeat presidential elections in May. It was noted that the election commission rejected her candidacy with the same motivation as the Constitutional Court of Romania in October 2024, when the politician was banned from participating in the December elections due to alleged denial of the values enshrined in the country's constitution.
