The Republic of Serbia will declare March 18 as the day of mourning for the dead and injured in the nightclub fire in the city of Kochani in Northern Macedonia. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced this on March 16.

"I have informed the president [of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova] that Serbia will declare March 18 a day of mourning over the tragedy," he wrote on Instagram (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

In addition, Vucic clarified that he had offered the President of North Macedonia to send medical helicopters and other vehicles, as well as medical teams to help. He also decided to take the injured to hospitals in Serbia.

The fire in a nightclub in Kochani became known earlier that day. Presumably, the fire occurred due to the use of pyrotechnics. The country's Interior Minister, Panche Toszkowski, said that the causes of the fire at the disco are being investigated and people have been detained in this case. He also expressed his condolences to the families of the dead and injured. According to the latest data, 59 people were killed. The Russian Embassy clarified that there were no Russian citizens among the dead or injured in the fire.
