US President Donald Trump intends to close two state reserves in California, established by his predecessor Joe Biden. This was reported on March 16 by The Washington Post newspaper with reference to the White House.

We are talking about the reserves of Chakwalla in Southern California and the Suttitla Highlands in the north of the state. Biden established them in the last days of his presidential term.

According to the newspaper, the indigenous peoples of the United States had previously called for a ban on industrial activities in these areas.

The newspaper recalls that in his first term, Trump had already reduced the area of reserves in Utah. However, it remains unclear whether the US president has the authority to close nature reserves without congressional approval.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the court of the District of Columbia demanded to stop the mass deportations of migrants from the United States, carried out on the basis of the "Alien Enemies Act" of 1798. The judge also demanded that any plane with migrants that is about to take off or is in the air "must be returned to the United States, no matter how it is done."
