A Peruvian fisherman has been found alive in the Pacific Ocean after spending 95 days at sea.
61-year-old fisherman Maximo Napa Castro set sail on his fishing boat on December 7, 2024 from Marcona, a coastal city in southern Peru. Due to bad weather, the man deviated from the course and lost his direction of travel. The Castro family and groups of fishermen searched for him for three months.
As a result, Castro discovered an Ecuadorian fishing vessel. He was severely dehydrated and in critical condition. Later, the man said that he managed to survive thanks to rainwater. He also ate insects, birds and a turtle. Castro has spent the last 15 days without food.
"I have a granddaughter who is a few months old, and I've been holding on to her. Every day I thought about my mother," concluded the fisherman.
Earlier, on December 7, 2024, police officers rescued a group of tourists who got lost in bad weather during a trip to Cape Windis on Sakhalin.
