Hang glider pilot killed while landing on ice in Kirov region

In the Kirov region, a man who was flying a hang glider died while landing on ice. This was announced on March 16 by the central interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Telegram channel.

"According to preliminary data, on the afternoon of March 16, 2025, a hang glider made a hard landing on the ice surface of the reservoir in the Omutninsky district. As a result of the incident, the 61-year—old pilot died, and the aircraft was completely destroyed," the report says.

The circumstances of the incident are being determined by law enforcement agencies. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport") is being checked on this fact.

In July 2024, a man died in a hang glider crash in the Altai Territory. According to the West Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office, the pilot, born in 1949, crashed while flying a hang glider. The man suffered life-threatening injuries.
