Ovechkin breaks Gretzky's record for goals in one calendar month

On March 15, Russian forward of the Washington Capitals hockey club Alexander Ovechkin broke the record of Canadian hockey player Wayne Gretzky in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the number of goals scored in one calendar month.

Gretzky's record was 157 goals in December.

The Russian scored the 887th career goal against the San Jose Sharks. This hit was his 158th Career goal in March.
