American leader Donald Trump instructed the US Department of Defense to develop an operation plan against the Houthis from the Ansar Allah movement shortly after his inauguration. This was reported on March 15 by the Axios portal, citing an American official.

"Trump ordered the Pentagon to begin preparing military plans against the Houthis a few weeks after taking office," the publication says.

In addition, according to the portal, the acceleration of the development of the plan occurred after the Yemeni Houthis destroyed a drone of the American army in March. It is specified that the plan was approved on March 14. The publication also reported that Washington had sent information about the strikes to its main allies, including Israel, in advance.

Al Masirah TV channel reported on March 16 that as a result of an airstrike carried out by the US army on a power plant located in Dhayan in the province of Saada in northern Yemen, electricity was cut off in the city and surrounding areas. At the same time, it was reported that the death toll from US strikes in Yemen had increased to 13 people.

On March 15, Trump ordered his country's military to launch military operations against the Houthis in Yemen. According to him, the Houthis are waging an "incessant campaign of piracy, violence and terrorism" directed against US and other countries' ships, as well as aircraft and drones.
