Crews of T-72B3M tanks of the 20th Guards Combined Arms Army of the Zapad group of forces destroyed camouflaged positions and manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the area of the special military operation in the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) during combat operations. This was announced on March 16 by the Russian Defense Ministry.
It is specified that immediately after receiving the coordinates of the targets, the crews moved to firing positions, aimed at the enemy and fired 125-millimeter high-explosive shells. The shooting was corrected by the operators of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The crews of T-72B3M tanks perform combat missions around the clock and inflict fire damage on the enemy, using the terrain features. They mainly destroy fortifications, military equipment and weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"We provided support to our motorized rifle battalion from closed firing positions. The task of the infantry was to gain a foothold on the set lines and prevent the enemy from breaking through. We provided all possible assistance to our guys," said a tank platoon commander with the call sign Valuy.
According to him, during the combat mission, the enemy discovered the tank's position and attacked it with FPV drones. As a result, the combat vehicle caught fire, but the Russian military successfully extinguished the fire. After that, the tank of the Russian Armed Forces destroyed the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and moved to a safe place.
On March 15, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that military personnel of the 152-millimeter towed Hyacinth-B cannon of the Center group of forces destroyed a fortified stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Red Army area of the special operation.
