In the eastern United States, at least 18 people died as a result of a powerful storm, and many residential buildings were destroyed. This was reported on March 15 by the CBS News channel.

"Gusty winds have moved east into the Mississippi Valley and the Far South, killing at least 18 people," the material says.

According to Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, tornadoes were reported in six counties. Experts predict that extreme weather conditions will affect the area where over 100 million people live.

Authorities recorded at least 11 deaths in Missouri, three deaths in Arkansas, and another death in Oklahoma. Three people also died in an accident in Texas during a dust storm. 38 cars were involved in one of the accidents.

In addition, CBS clarifies that due to strong winds, more than 216,000 homes and businesses in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri were left without electricity.

On February 16, CNN reported the deaths of eight people in the US state of Kentucky, as well as one in Georgia, as a result of a powerful storm that caused flooding. It was noted that during the day, the Kentucky emergency services performed more than 1,000 rescue operations.
