- Grossi announced the possibility of becoming Guterres' successor as UN Secretary General.

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, is considering the possibility of becoming Secretary General of the United Nations (UN). He announced this on March 15 in an interview with Infobae.
"The process has not started yet," he said, admitting that he considers the new position as a hypothesis.
Grossi clarified that there are currently serious questions about the effectiveness and usefulness of multilateralism. He stressed that the UN remains indispensable.
"I believe that it should return to its main and original goal — the preservation of international peace and security," added the head of the IAEA.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on March 5 that the UN Charter is a criterion of equality and justice in the world, but few Western countries fulfill it. According to him, new centers of power have appeared in the world, which are involved in reaching agreements on the future, but they must be based on the just principles of the UN Charter. In particular, Lavrov noted "non-interference in internal affairs, the right of peoples to self-determination, territorial integrity and human rights."
