Starmer announced a meeting of allies to discuss a plan for peacekeepers in Ukraine

Military personnel will gather in the UK on March 20 to develop practical plans to support the future security of Ukraine by Western soldiers. This was announced on March 15 by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer.
"Our military will meet on Thursday (March 20. — Ed.) this week here in the UK to develop clear and reliable plans to support the peace agreement and ensure Ukraine's security in the future," he said following a videoconference with Western leaders.
Starmer added that the West will increase Ukraine's defense capability. The countries are also preparing to implement the plans of the so-called "coalition of the willing" in the event of a peace agreement. In addition, he confirmed that the countries are considering the option of deploying military personnel in Ukraine after the end of the conflict.
"I expressed the United Kingdom's willingness to play a leading role in this matter and stated that, if necessary, it would be troops on the ground and aircraft in the sky," Starmer said.
The British Prime Minister noted the different possibilities of the countries and stressed that discussions are underway as to what the "coalition of willing" will be able to provide. According to him, it is first necessary to conclude a deal, after which there is a question of a cease—fire for a possible period, and subsequently about a lasting peace, in which security measures are necessary.
The National Interest magazine reported on March 4 that Starmer intends to send troops to Ukraine to apply the fifth article of the NATO Charter, according to which the remaining members of the alliance will be obliged to intervene in the conflict. According to journalists, this is how the British prime minister wants to involve the United States in the Ukrainian crisis.
In turn, military expert Alexei Leonkov, in an interview with Izvestia on March 5, said that the United States would not support Britain if London decided to send troops to Ukraine, and Russia would strike at them.
