For the first time in 70 years, a new station, Dostoevskaya, will open on the Ring Line of the Moscow metro. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin told about this in his Telegram channel. Since the work is being carried out in the area of historical buildings, builders use special methods of tunnel construction.

"The work is underway in the historical center of Moscow, next to the current branch line. An open pit is impossible here, so the mining method is used — in fact, manual drilling using small—scale mechanization," Sergei Sobyanin said.

Right and left bypass tunnels are currently being laid at Dostoevskaya. During the construction of the station, trains of the Ring Line will run through them. In addition, the builders are installing a special complex that will lay the trunk of the future ventilation chamber. To speed up construction, it was decided to increase the number of mine shafts to seven, although one or two are usually used.

According to the mayor of the capital, the station will improve transport links in the Meshchansky district and provide an additional transfer from the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line to the Ring Line. The second lobby will significantly shorten the way from the metro to the multifunctional complex "Olympic".
