The price of tickets for the American National Hockey League (NHL) matches with the Washington Capitals team has doubled due to the approaching record for goals in the regular league championships, which should be set by Russian striker Alexander Ovechkin. This was reported on March 15 by The Washington Times.

"Prices for many tickets on the secondary market have doubled over the past month, as Ovechkin seems almost certain to break the record before the end of the regular season in April," the media notes.

Analysts at the TickPick online marketplace have suggested that tickets to Ovechkin's record-breaking match could become the most expensive in NHL history. Their cost will be $450-500, and may even exceed $ 700-800, according to bookmakers.

As suggested by commentator Joe Beninati, who conducts all reports from Ovechkin's games, the Russian has an 80% chance of breaking the record this season, Sport-Express notes.

On March 10, Ovechkin scored his 1,600th point in the NHL regular season and reduced the gap from Canadian Wayne Gretzky's record for NHL goals to eight goals. Thus, the Russian striker still ranks second in the list of the best snipers in NHL history with 886 goals in 1,474 matches. Gretzky leads the way with 894 goals in 1,487 games.

After that, on March 11, the Russian striker of the Washington Capitals said in an interview with Sport-Express that Gretzky would personally monitor how his record could be broken. Ovechkin added that he is in constant contact with the Canadian, they are on good friendly terms. The Canadian supports him and wishes him success in sports.
