In Belgrade, public transport has been suspended until the end of the day amid protests. This was reported on March 15 by the Serbian news agency Tanjug with reference to the city hall.

The ban came into force at 09:30 (11:30 Moscow time), while the Belgrade city transport company stopped its flights half an hour earlier.

"The transport of private carriers has not appeared on the street since morning," the agency added.

The protest action of students taking place on this day involves the blocking of key points in Belgrade. According to the plan announced by the organizers, the culmination of the action should begin at 17:00 local time (19:00 Moscow time) on the square in front of the Serbian Parliament.

On March 8, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Vulin said that the West was using the protests of students and opposition figures in Serbia to further push Belgrade and Moscow. According to him, the ongoing protests have no social background, it is "not a movement for a fairer or more successful society."

The reason for the start of anti-government protests by students and the opposition since November 2024 was the death of 15 people as a result of the collapse of the canopy of the railway station in Novi Sad. After the tragedy, Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic resigned.
