- Dmitriev, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, suggested that Musk send a joint mission to Mars

On March 15, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), proposed to SpaceX founder Elon Musk to organize a joint flight of Russia and the United States to Mars in 2029.
Earlier, Musk posted on the social network X (ex. Twitter) a post in which he announced the flight of his Starship spacecraft with the Optimus robot to Mars at the end of next year and the possible landing of humans on the planet in 2029.
"Will 2029 be the year of a joint US-Russian mission to Mars, Elon Musk? Our minds and technologies should serve for the benefit of humanity, not its destruction," Dmitriev wrote on the social network X.
The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund also recalled that in 2025 the 50th anniversary of the joint Soviet-American space mission Soyuz — Apollo will be celebrated.
Earlier, on February 18, Musk announced that robots being sent to Mars will be controlled by artificial intelligence Grok. At the same time, according to him, a trip to Mars is possible only once every 26 months.
