Trump signed a decree on reducing the functions of the global media agency

US President Donald Trump has signed a decree on reducing the functions and work of employees of several agencies to combat bureaucracy, including the Agency for Global Media (USAGM) and a number of other government agencies. The document was published on the White House website on March 14.
The Global Media Agency coordinates the work of US-funded media outlets, including Voice of America and Svoboda./Free Europe" (recognized as foreign agents in the Russian Federation). The decree calls for the elimination of the functions of a number of departments "not provided for by law" and the reduction of their staff.
The Woodrow Wilson Center (the activities of this organization are considered undesirable in the Russian Federation), the Federal Mediation and Reconciliation Service, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Interdepartmental Council on the Homeless, the Foundation for Financial Development Institutions, the Agency for Business Development of Minorities and the Arctic Research Commission were also cut.
On March 13, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth ordered the disbandment of the Office of Network Assessment (ONA), created in 1973 by order of former American leader Richard Nixon. According to Hegseth, this decision ensures that U.S. resources will be directed to addressing the most pressing national security challenges while maintaining accountability and effectiveness.
