In Cuba, there was a malfunction in the energy system after an accident at a substation. This was announced on March 15 by the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Mining of the country.

"Today [evening] there was a failure at the Diesmero substation, which led to a significant loss of generation in the west of Cuba, and with it to the failure of the National Electric System (SEN)," said a message on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

The ministry also noted that work is already underway to restore power supply.

On December 4, the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Cuba reported a complete power outage throughout the country due to the failure of the Antonio Guiteras thermal power plant (CHP). Then the blackout occurred after the automation was triggered at a thermal power plant in the province of Matanzas.
