More than 30 thousand students came out to protest in Belgrade.

On the evening of March 14, the day before the protest action announced for March 15, students began to gather in the center of Belgrade, after a while the total number of protesters reached about 31 thousand people. This was reported by TASS on March 15, citing data from the Serbian Interior Ministry.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic noted that the action was not coordinated with the authorities, but called on the police and other government agencies to ensure the safety of participants and not to use force against them, except in extreme cases. He stressed that the organizers are responsible for possible incidents.
"At the peak of the gathering at all locations in the city, according to police estimates, the total number of people gathered, including those who arrived from other parts of Serbia and the Belgradians who met them, was about 31,000," the agency quoted a statement from the law enforcement agency.
The Republic's Interior Ministry also reported that several incidents occurred during the protest, mostly directed against participants of another student rally in Pioneer Park. As a result, two people were detained for violating public order.
"The Interior Ministry staff will do everything possible to protect public order, lives and property, and urge all participants in tomorrow's meeting to contribute to the preservation of peace and stability by their behavior," the ministry concluded.
The protest action scheduled for March 15 involves the blocking of key points in Belgrade. According to the plan announced by the organizers, the closures of the main interchanges will begin by noon, and the culmination of the action should begin at 17:00 local time (19:00 Moscow time) on the square in front of the Serbian Parliament.
On March 8, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Vulin said that the West was using the protests of students and opposition figures in Serbia to further push Belgrade and Moscow. According to him, the ongoing protests have no social background, it is "not a movement for a more just or successful society."
The reason for the start of anti-government protests by students and the opposition since November 2024 was the death of 15 people as a result of the collapse of the canopy of the railway station in Novi Sad. After the tragedy, Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic resigned.
