Trump appreciated the dynamics of discussions with Putin on the ceasefire in Ukraine

Discussions on a possible ceasefire in Ukraine with Russian President Vladimir Putin are progressing quite well. This was announced on March 14 by the American leader Donald Trump.
"We're working with him, and I think everything is going pretty well," the President of the United States said in an interview with Sharyl Attkinson, which was broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Full Measure program.
At the same time, Trump emphasized the complexity of the situation. The American leader also added that his statement about the end of the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours of assuming the presidency of the United States was sarcastic, but he still believes in the possibility of reaching a peace agreement.
"I was being a little sarcastic when I said I would do it. But I actually believe that I will be able to achieve a settlement, I believe that I will be successful in this," he explained.
According to Trump, additional information on the prospects for a cease-fire will appear on Monday, March 17.
"As you know, we have a ceasefire agreement with the Ukrainian group, and we are trying to achieve the same with Russia. We will learn a little more on Monday, and I hope it will be good," the American leader clarified.
On the same day, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted "progress" in negotiations on Ukraine after a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump's special envoy Steven Witkoff in Moscow. According to him, this weekend the American side will study in detail the position of the Russian Federation and determine further steps.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, said that the Russian leader had sent additional signals to Trump through Witkoff. Peskov added that after the American leader receives this information, the parties will be able to agree on the timing of the leaders' conversation.
