Moldova plans to receive a loan of $40 million from the World Bank to implement a project to create a disaster warning system. This was reported on the website of the Parliament of the Republic on March 5.

The loan, granted on preferential terms, was ratified in the first reading. Of the total amount, $5 million will be used to develop a public notification system via mobile telephony, which will allow for the rapid dissemination of emergency warnings. $22.5 million will be used to purchase emergency response equipment, and $6 million will be used to improve hydrometeorological services.

It is specified that the loan will be repaid within 30 years, including a five-year grace period.

Earlier, on February 26, the leader of the pro-European Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) Vladimir Filat said that President Maia Sandu and her government are hiding the approach of a new energy crisis from the population and are not taking any action to prevent it. Filat also commented on the authorities' decision to limit prices for the first 110 kWh for all consumers until December 2025.
