The United States is not going to claim that Russia is trying to delay negotiations on Ukraine, but on the contrary, they believe that there is progress. This was announced on March 14 by the American Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

"We believe that a very positive and productive meeting took place yesterday between President Putin and Special Envoy [Steven] Witkoff," Rubio said.

The Secretary of State also expressed the hope that this weekend the American side will study Russia's position more closely, and US President Donald Trump will determine what the next steps will be.

"Suffice it to say that, in my opinion, there are grounds for cautious optimism, but at the same time we continue to recognize that this is a difficult and challenging situation," Rubio concluded.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on March 14 that Putin had sent additional signals to the American leader through Witkoff.

He also added that the special envoy and Putin exchanged various additional information during the meeting. As for the new rounds of negotiations with the American side, Peskov said that the exact time of the meeting between the two presidents has not yet been determined.
