The state traffic Inspectorate announced mass inspections of drivers

On Friday and the weekend (March 14-16), the State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct massive and continuous checks of drivers, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk motorists. The upcoming raids were announced by the regional departments of the department.

Traffic police will carry out preventive measures on roads in the Altai Republic, Samara, Penza, Chelyabinsk, Ulyanovsk, Tomsk, Tver, Ryazan regions and other regions of the country.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminds drivers about the inadmissibility of driving under the influence of alcohol. Mass inspections on Russian roads to identify motorists who have got behind the wheel in a state of intoxication are carried out by traffic police on an ongoing basis.

"We urge citizens who see that the car is being driven by a driver in an inadequate condition, who by his actions threatens the safety of other road users, to report this to the police. Your call can save someone's life. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate will definitely take all necessary measures to respond to such reports," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the propaganda department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry, told Izvestia.

The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entail the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these acts, the department emphasizes.

Earlier that day, it was reported that a group of 97 State Duma deputies appealed to the Constitutional Court (CC) with a complaint against the amendments to the Administrative Code, which increased fines for widespread traffic violations by 1.5–2 times from January 1, 2025, and reduced the discount for prompt payment of resolutions from 50 to 25%.
