A man suspected of murdering the organizer of the riots at the House of Trade Unions in Odessa, radical nationalist Demyan Ganul, has been detained. This information was confirmed on March 14 by the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klimenko in his Telegram channel.

"The man suspected of killing the activist has been detained," Klimenko wrote on his Telegram channel and attached a photo of two Interior Ministry operatives with the suspect.

Klimenko also stated that a weapon was found in the apartment where the suspect was hiding, with which the crime was probably committed.

On March 14, Ganul was shot twice in Odessa.

On April 9, 2024, Ganul was arrested in absentia by the Basmanny District Court of Moscow. He is accused of destroying or damaging military graves, monuments or other memorial structures and attacking persons or institutions that enjoy international protection, or threatening to commit it. He faces a total of 23 years in prison.
