- The State Duma explained the possible strengthening of anti-Russian sanctions by the United States

The likely tightening of US anti-Russian sanctions, as previously reported by Western media, may be a continuation of the policy of unfair competition, which in itself does not indicate a deterioration in relations with Russia or problems in the negotiation process. This was stated by State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa on Friday, March 14.
"The United States is doing everything for its own benefit, this is unfair competition. So this time the restrictions relate primarily to the oil and gas sector. And US President Donald Trump said from the very beginning that he would do everything to reduce the cost of oil. Therefore, I do not think that the sanctions have anything to do with the terms of the truce announced yesterday by Russian President Vladimir Putin," he said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
According to Chepa, the sanctions confrontation between Russia and the United States will continue for quite a long time, regardless of the Ukrainian conflict. He is confident that Washington will always find reasons to impose restrictions against Moscow where it is beneficial to it.
"There are constant contacts in Ukraine, and all this is difficult. This causes great resistance among the opponents of the peace agreement. We also understand that Trump needs to maneuver between his NATO partners somehow, and this is also not easy," the deputy noted.
Earlier in the day, Bloomberg reported that the US administration had "quietly" increased sanctions against Russia, without imposing new restrictions or making official statements.
It is noted that the American authorities allowed the licenses to expire, which relate to several Russian banks. The issue concerns energy payments in US dollars, RT reports.
The termination of the license may affect the income of the Russian Federation from the sale of oil and gas, NSN reports.
