More than half of Russians (58%) are engaged in needlework or have done so in the past. Women are more likely to create something with their own hands (73% versus 41% of men), according to the results of a study on the Avito platform, reviewed by Izvestia. Experts have found out which hobbies are most popular.

Handmade hobbies are most popular among young people — 66% of respondents aged 18 to 24 said that they enjoy such leisure activities. Among those who are engaged in handmade, the majority of Russians are high-income (56%).

Sewing and knitting are among the most popular hobbies related to needlework, which 39% of Russians are engaged in. The second place is occupied by paintings by numbers, diamond mosaics and rumboxes (34%). The top five also included interior renovation and design, including furniture restoration (25%), home decor (19%) and woodwork (18%).
