Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto announced the republic's readiness to continue close cooperation with Russia in traditional and new areas. This was announced on March 14 in a message on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

"Ivan Khil in his message reflected the main milestones in the development of bilateral relations, including the contribution of President Hugo Chavez to the formation of a strategic alliance between Russia and Venezuela," the article clarifies.

The Venezuelan Minister also stressed the convergence of the positions of Moscow and Caracas in the international arena, noting the progress made by our countries in "neutralizing the impact of instruments of aggression and pressure."

The Russian Foreign Ministry also noted the importance of cooperation between the two countries on international platforms, including the United Nations, in order to strengthen the multipolar world order and combat neocolonial practices.

Earlier, on February 21, Roberto Messuti, a deputy from the ruling coalition of the National Assembly of Venezuela, told Izvestia that the political dialogue between Moscow and Washington was a manifestation of sound thinking. At the same time, answering the question whether the dialogue between Moscow and Washington would contribute to the lifting of sanctions against Venezuela, he noted that this was unlikely to happen.
