An entrepreneur was convicted for the death of a child at a sawmill in Primorye

In Primorsky Krai, a court has issued a verdict against an entrepreneur who was found guilty of negligence. An eight-year-old child was fatally injured in a sawmill.

According to the prosecutor's office, in May 2023, the man did not install a fence on the territory of the woodworking enterprise and did not take measures to ensure the safety of the facility. A boy entered the territory of the sawmill and decided to climb onto the stacks of wood. As a result, the child was crushed by a rolled log. This is reported by IA PrimaMedia.

The court sentenced the businessman to 1.5 years of restriction of freedom. In addition, a civil claim for 2.5 million rubles in favor of the family of the deceased child has been satisfied. The arrest will remain in effect until the payment of compensation for the convicted person's property is completed.
