- The draft G7 communique did not mention the introduction of new sanctions against Russia

The draft communique of the G7 foreign ministers does not mention possible sanctions against Russia, the Reuters news agency reported on March 14.
The foreign ministers of the G7 countries gathered on Thursday, March 13, in the Canadian province of Quebec to discuss a joint statement, seeking to maintain unity amid trade differences with the United States and the difficult situation around Ukraine.
The draft communique following the meeting of the foreign ministers does not contain any mention of possible new sanctions against Russia, the article says.
The draft also welcomed the US efforts in Jeddah and Ukraine's commitment to an immediate ceasefire. The document also called on Russia to "follow this example," <url> noted.
The Reuters news agency reported on March 3 that the White House is studying plans for a possible lifting of sanctions against Russia. According to sources, the agencies are currently preparing a proposal to lift restrictions on certain legal entities and individuals so that US representatives can discuss it with their Russian counterparts in the coming days as part of negotiations to improve diplomatic and economic relations.
On March 6, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that there were no discussions between the Russian Federation and the United States on the lifting of sanctions. She stressed that Moscow has repeatedly warned that restrictions are destructive and illegitimate.
Anita Hipper, a representative of the European Commission (EC), said on March 13 that the European Union countries were not discussing measures to ease sanctions against Russia — on the contrary, the EU was considering a new package of restrictive measures.
