Matvienko awarded Lukashenko the honorary badge of the Federation Council


On March 14, Chairman of the upper house of the Russian Parliament Valentina Matvienko presented President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko with the honorary badge of the Federation Council.
The award was given to the Belarusian leader for his contribution to the development of parliamentarism and significant participation in strengthening the Union State, as well as in promoting friendship and cooperation between the peoples of Russia and Belarus.
"Alexander Grigoryevich, it is a great honor for me to present you with our highest award of the Federation Council," Matvienko said after the speech of the President of Belarus to the senators.
She also expressed gratitude to Lukashenko for finding the opportunity to visit the Senate. According to her, the Belarusian president's speech was filled with "openness and true brotherly friendship between Russia and Belarus."
Matvienko stressed that both countries are able to cope with any external challenges and threats thanks to unity and strong leaders who protect national interests.
On March 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the relations between Russia and Belarus fraternal. According to him, the relations between the two countries could be an example for many other states, both in the economic and security spheres.
