The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation cancelled the recommendation related to refraining from traveling to Abkhazia. This was announced on March 14 by the agency in a message to the media on its website.

"On February 15 and March 1, the first and second rounds of presidential elections were held in Abkhazia, following which [former Vice President of the Republic of Abkhazia Badra] Gunba was elected head of state," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The politician returned to his duties as president on March 3. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for April 2.

Taking into account the stabilization of the situation in Abkhazia, the Russian Foreign Ministry canceled recommendations on refraining from traveling to the country. However, the department recalled the need to follow the standard rules for Russians traveling on vacation. It is noted that you need to be careful at night and in places that are potentially dangerous, and take into account local customs and traditions.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the law enforcement agencies of Russia and Abkhazia are constantly cooperating on issues related to the implementation of law and order and the safety of tourists.

On February 6, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Transport informed about the planned resumption of regular direct air traffic between Russia and Abkhazia. It is going to be restored in May of this year.
