Last year, the turnover of the capital's pharmaceutical sector reached 606.3 billion rubles. This is almost 44% more than in 2023 in comparable prices, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

According to him, the city provided active support to the sector — thanks to this, the production of medicines increased by 12.3% in January this year. Now, the mayor continued, the capital is preparing to launch the production of new medicines. These are drugs based on monoclonal antibodies against rheumatoid arthritis and for the treatment of osteoporosis. The first shipments will arrive by the end of this year and the beginning of next year. In addition, Moscow will annually produce from 3.8 to 5.4 million vials of medicines for the treatment of orphan diseases, as well as antitumor drugs.

There are more than 300 enterprises operating in the capital's pharmaceutical sector, which are increasing production volumes and expanding the product range, Sobyanin noted. "This allows us to solve the most important task for today — providing citizens and residents of the country with medicines and medical products," the mayor stressed.
