This year, a new landscaping project will be launched on the territory of the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

Work will begin on the Central Square in front of the Large Sports Arena. "The new "heart" of the Central Square will be a large mirror of the water surface. In summer, there will be relaxation areas with tables and sun beds around it. In the evenings, you can arrange water shows here," Sobyanin wrote on his personal blog.

It is proposed to replace the row of trees in the alley along the square with young maples. There are also plans to separate traffic and pedestrians.

In addition, the reconstruction of the Luzhniki-Tsentralny pier will be part of the landscaping project. "We will raise its height by about 1.2 meters from the water level, increase its width and length, and, in addition, make it accessible to low—mobility groups of the population," the mayor said. He also announced plans to equip new breakers and mount bollards, which will ensure comfortable simultaneous parking of two pleasure transport ships. A separate area for mooring electric vessels will also be organized. After the reconstruction, the pier will be able to accommodate both pleasure and regular river vessels.

At the same time, the business sites scattered throughout the Luzhniki Stadium will be moved to a single warehouse center. Recreational areas will be created in the vacant spaces.

Sobyanin stressed that Luzhniki will become one of the best parks in the capital, where it will be possible to organize both family leisure and major international competitions.
