Businessman Vyacheslav Platon, who was accused of fraud, was detained in the UK for extradition to Moldova. On March 14, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic announced this on the Facebook social network (owned by the recognized extremist Meta company, its activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation).
"The competent authorities of the United Kingdom informed the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Moldova that, based on a request from the prosecutor's Office dated September 25, 2024, Vyacheslav Platon was detained," the statement said.
It is specified that the republic's prosecutor's office is currently in contact with the British authorities to organize the process of transferring the suspect to Moldovan law enforcement agencies.
From June 2013 to May 2014, Platon and his accomplices transferred more than 126 billion rubles from Russian credit institutions to bank accounts of a non-resident represented by JSC CB Moldindconbank. The operation was carried out using forged documents. In July 2022, Platon was put on the international wanted list.
