Lavrov called Venezuela one of the best co-authors of Russian resolutions.

Venezuela has traditionally been one of the best co-sponsors of Russian draft resolutions. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in his article "Russia and Venezuela: Friendship and Partnership through years and Distances," published on March 14 on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The material was published to mark the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"Venezuela has traditionally been one of the co—authors of our draft resolutions: on combating the glorification of Nazism, not being the first to deploy weapons in outer space, measures to ensure transparency and confidence-building in space activities, to prevent an arms race in outer space, and to ensure international information security," he listed.
Lavrov noted that Russian-Venezuelan relations are currently developing on the solid legal basis of the 1996 Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Venezuela. Their strengthening was also influenced by a common foreign policy philosophy aimed at asserting and protecting national sovereignty and balancing interests in relations between States.
"Our states are firmly committed to the formation of a more just and polycentric world order based on the principles of the UN Charter in their entirety and interrelationship, and the right of the peoples of the world to determine the ways and models of political and socio-economic development themselves," the minister added.
On January 10, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin conveyed congratulations from the Russian leader to Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro on taking office. After taking the oath of office, the re-elected president of Venezuela declared his intention to work for the benefit of the people, comply with the laws and strive for prosperity, equality and a new democracy.
Back in April 2024, Lavrov stated that Russia has stable relations with the Bolivarian Alliance (ALBA Group), within which a number of areas of cooperation are being implemented. The minister called the intensive political dialogue between the Russian Federation and the association one of such practical directions.
